8. Meeting of IEHS

The 8th Meeting was held in Buenos Aires/Argentina, from 14th to 16th of September 2017, together with the II Congreso Argentino De Cirurgia De La Pared Abdominal and the 3rd Annual Symposium of the International Hernia Collaboration . The program of the meeting was made in close cooperation with the President of the Hernia Society of Argentina Prof. Dr. Sergio D. Madeo (program-link).

The meeting was excellent organized. The scientific discussions were held at a high level. During the three days about 350 participants were counted, which was estimated to be a great success for the young society. Main topics of the meeting had been quality assessment, registries, centralization, hernia centers, international cooperation, but also the new developments in hernia surgery like robotics and techniques allowing intraabdominal wall surgery but avoiding big skin incisions or the transabdominal approach.

The social events inclusive a spectacular Tango performance took place in a very friendly and pleasant atmosphere. They will be unforgettable.
