Dear colleagues, dear friends, It is a great pleasure for us to invite you to take part actively in the 6th Meeting of the International Endohernia Society (IEHS). As you surely know the IEHS was founded in 2004 in Kallithea/Greece as a network of well-known hernia surgeons working worldwide and who are highly dedicated to laparoscopic surgery. The main topic of the 4th Meeting, held in Delhi/India in 2009, was “Development of Guide-lines on laparoscopic (TAPP) and endoscopic (TEP) treatment of inguinal hernia”. The meeting was extremely successful, the Guidelines are recently published in “Surgical Endoscopy” the most important journal in this field (Surg Endosc 2011; 25: 2773-2843). The main topic of the 5th Meeting, held October 2011 in Suzhou/China, was dedicated to “Development of Guidelines on treatment of incisional and primary ventral hernias”. The meeting was attended by about 400 Chinese surgeons among them some of the most important opinion leader in China. Currently the manuscripts are in elaboration for the publication process of the Guidelines. The 6th Meeting will take place in Belgrade/ Serbia, 11th - 13th of October 2012, hosted by the Serbian Hernia Society and organized by Dr. Bojan Radovanovic. The main topics of this meeting will be: 1. Promotion of laparoscopic hernia surgery in Serbia and Eastern Europe. 2. Development of Guidelines on treatment of hiatal hernias. 3. Update of Guidelines on treatment of inguinal hernias published by IEHS in Surg Endosc. In addition, there will be Live-Surgery demonstrated by some of most recommended hernia surgeons world wide.
